Here at Meddy's Musings we believe in balancing the needs of mind, body and spirit. We believe in the existence of Chi/Ki/Qi - the universal life energy force. Through our work in Massage Therapy, Reiki, Chakra Balancing, Meditation, Aromatherapy, Feng Shui consultations and even in our spiritual counseling and reading sessions, there is an energy exchange and  typically a release of toxic build-ups of stress and other lower vibrational activity that may cause dis-ease within our environment.

Meddy's Musings provides services which complement routine care. We are not doctors. We cannot diagnose nor prescribe. We each are licensed and/ or certified practitioners within our fields. Each of us takes our responsibility as a healing facilitator very seriously yet with joy. We are happy to work in conjunction with your personal care physician so that you may live in greater harmony within your body.

Massage Therapy ~ Thoughts on massage therapy have changed drastically over the years. Our licensed therapists continually hone their skills and specialize in many different forms of therapeutic massage. From relaxation, to working through stressed muscles, Doreen and Rodney can help you develop the best plan for your individual situation. Sessions are scheduled for 30, 45, 60, and 75 minute periods.

Swedish involves several types of motions such as long sweeping movements, kneading and tapping, and is the type of massage with which most people are familiar. Deep Tissue works more intensely and may be beneficial on scar tissue while Myofascial Release, derived from the Latin words "myo" - meaning muscle, and "fascia" - for band; releases tension through manipulation and stretching, and may therefore improve posture.

Japanese Shiatsu, “shi” meaning finger and “atsu” for pressure, is a form of manipulation of the body’s energy, or chi, using applied finger pressure on the body to promote and maintain health, and assist with treating dis-eases. Reflexology involves the stimulation of the feet and/or hands to assist in pain management, relaxation and removal of blockages to corresponding parts of the body. These techniques can be used individually while fully clothed (minus footwear) or in conjunction with other methods.

Expect to spend about an hour with us experiencing the Raindrop Technique® a combination of light massage and aromatic essential oils to help achieve a greater sense of well being. Seven separate oils and two Young Living essential oil blends are applied to the feet and dropped along the back to stimulate the spinal column and promote wellness.

Energy Therapy & Spiritual Healing ~ The staff of Meddy’s Musings incorporates the use of positive and higher vibrational energy to assist our clients. Heritage may dictate different names yet no matter what you may call the Divine, we believe all elements of healing and wellness come from this Source of Infinite Intelligence. Working merely as a conduit, our practitioners channel healing energy to help balance the body, mind, and connection to inner self. Our work does not require, nor does it interfere, with any spiritual belief system. Often these sessions last about 15 minutes in a seated position. With the client’s permission, the practitioner may touch shoulders, head, hands and feet or other specific areas of the body to affect positive flow of chi. Chakra balancing, aura cleansing, and magnetic healing are other terms that may be used for these services.

Meditation ~ Meditation Our Meditation Circle meets every Monday at 7pm. Most of our meditations are guided to assist in learning diverse introspective and spiritual experiences. We have several styles of chairs and a few pillows but we do suggest that you bring a blanket and/or pillow to achieve optimal comfort. We begin with a lead-in visualization which will vary in length, an approximate 20 minute quiet period, and then a brief lead out. You are welcome to share comments and experiences after our journey is complete.  If you are new to meditation, you may find that our facilitators, Jeff, Meddy, and Doreen, aid in your ability to visualize, allowing your body and mind to relax. If nothing else, you have given yourself permission to be still and listen, leaving the cares of the world behind for just a brief time. There are no expectations from this experience and we do not mind if you snore! Although this is a free service, donations are greatly appreciated.

Reiki ~ Reiki From the Japanese words “rei” meaning universal and “ki” for life force energy, Reiki is a natural channeling system for attaining balance in the mind-body-spirit. Its optimal use is for the self first, then to spread this compassionate healing and relaxation method to others. Meddy is a certified Reiki Master Practitioner, meaning that she both works with these energies and teaches others to do the same.  Your Reiki session will last approximately 40 minutes for a full session, or 20 minutes for a seated or reclined mini-session. You will remain fully clothed (natural fibers like cotton are best for transmission) and may even fall asleep during this time. The practitioner may place hands along the head and body, or hover a few inches above, depending on your comfort level. You may feel heat, cold, tingling, or other sensations as the Reiki energies work to remove blockages and increase the higher vibrational frequencies which promote wellness and feelings of comfort. Most people report a sense of feeling “refreshed” and “in balance” after their Reiki session.

In addition to therapy, to become a certified practitioner, classes are scheduled on Sundays on a quarterly basis. Level I has no prerequisites or age requirements – only a desire to learn. Special scheduling for families or groups is available. Level II requires certification from any Master that the first instructional level is complete. Advanced Reiki Training (ART) is for those who wish to continue in the development process but do not have a desire to teach Reiki. Master (Level III) is for those who have made a commitment to this healing modality and may also wish to teach.

We do suggest calling or stopping in to make an appointment rather than sending an email request. This way we can explain your options, find a suitable time-slot, and better understand the services considered for the individual appointment.

Please feel free to drop in the beginning of each week during Monday Happy Hours from 5 to 7pm. All services are half-off regular prices. We cannot schedule appointments during this time as this is a first come-first served opportunity to sample the therapies, chat with the providers, and grab a light snack. You may even be inclined to remain for our Guided Meditation which directly follows to continue the feelings of relaxation and balance.
